Matthew Packwood


executive director

Matthew is founder and executive director of Oregon Origins Project. His work for the project has been supported by Ronni Lacroute, the Regional Arts and Culture Council, Reed College, Douglas F. Cooley Memorial Art Gallery, Museum of Natural and Cultural History, University of Oregon, Central Oregon Geoscience Society, and Geological Society of the Oregon Country. Matthew is also a composer, and his string quartet Oregon Origins: Seven Wonders had its album release in early 2024 and continues to be performed across the state. For many years Matthew co-produced the WGBH Radio program of American classical music Art of the States, which received awards from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music and National Endowment for the Arts. A Portland resident since 2007, Matthew is currently on staff at Reed College.
